The aim of product lifecycle management is the integration of all enterprise applications in a company. Nowadays, a company has a number of enterprise applications that are used for a wide variety of purposes. Each tool has its own strengths and thus contributes to successful product lifecycle management.
Enterprise applications generate information about a product. An important topic in the integration is the definition of which system is responsible for the generation of master data and which systems can expand the master data. In order to be able to answer this question more easily, the product life cycle is used.
It should be noted that the product life cycle is based on the manufacturing principles:
When looking at the product life cycle shown, the first product information regarding product planning and requirements management is already created in the CRM tool. This information is relevant for the subsequent product development. Based on the constructed engineering parts list, work plans for detailed production planning are then generated and requirements planning is initiated in the ERP. The subsequent production and quality assurance can be found in the MES and QMS systems. The generated digital twin with serial and lot numbers ultimately helps with the service processes.
